  • “Rei” – universal, spiritual, guided

  • “Ki” – life force energy that flows through all living beings

Together, Reiki means “universal life force energy.”

Reiki was founded in Japan in the early 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui, who developed the practice after years of spiritual study, meditation, and introspection. His method focused on aligning the energy centers of the body, releasing stagnation, and activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki later spread throughout the world as a gentle, accessible, and deeply nurturing form of holistic healing.

How Reiki Works
